About Me

Hello, let me introduce myself.

I’m a mom, a 2nd generation homeschooler, a reader, a rather lazy and imprecise knitter and quilter, a creaky kneed hiker, and a religious educator for a Unitarian Universalist congregation.

And I live in a purple house! My purple house is a remodeled farm house sitting on acreage just outside of a small city. My husband and I dreamed of getting a little farm, and we are living our dream here. I painted the house purple because it reminded me of the description of an ideal family/farm house in a novel. I don’t necessarily recommend the novel, but if you’re curious it’s We Were the Mulvaneys. That family had a huge fall from grace, so I’m not modeling the rest of my life after it!

Here in my purple house my family lives with goats, chickens, dogs, cats, and other pets/animals. We garden, cook, sew, and try to live a sustainable simple life, but we are definitely not DIY pros.

Here I plan to write about my efforts to live my values: sustainability, justice, kindness. I also write for my UU Religious Education program and about homeschooling at my two other blogs:
